Congratulations to Maureen Orth, who received the Robert and Lucia Lado Award at the 2009 fundraiser gala for the Spanish Catholic Center of Catholic Charities in Washington D.C. at the Organization of American States on March 28, 2009. Awards were also presented to Placido Domingo and Juanes.

Maureen was recognized as an award-winning journalist and founder of the Escuela Marina Orth and cited as "making a significant philanthropic commitment and demonstrating exemplary dedication to improving the lives of the Latino community."

In accepting the award, Maureen said, "God has blessed me by introducing me to Colombia at an early age. The smiles and hugs from the children at the school who are so enthusiastic to learn are my rewards."
